Programs

RBYSL strives to provide a healthy activity through its recreational (Division 4) and developmental (Division 3) programs. Our job is also to make it fun, and instill in young players a lifelong passion for the sport of soccer.

What Is Division 4

It is the Recreational aspect of our league, teams are normally formed on the following basis:

  • “All teams must be of equal strength and equally balanced”.
  • The Division 4 program emphasize FUN, and avoids the winning at all cost.
  • Equal playing time for players in Division 4 is required.
  • The Division 4 program is basically composed of the majority of our register players.

What Is Division 3

  • The Division 3 program is for those players who have advanced skills and greater ambition.
  • The Division 3 program require much more commitment from players and parents, and usually get started in the early spring for the upcoming Fall season.
  • The success of RBYSL depends entirely upon the work of volunteers. All RBYSL volunteers are required to dedicate and provide fundamental lessons for positive lifelong experiences in sport, and future competitive play.

Div 3 FAQ

What is Division 3 (D3)?

A developmental level of soccer.

What is the difference between D3 and D4 Soccer Teams?

A D3 team plays in a higher level of soccer. Players tryout for teams, and travel to tournaments (optional).

What are the eligible age groups for D3?

Boys and girls U-11 to U-19.

Do D3 teams have to travel more than D4 teams?

Historically, D3 teams have been formed in the Cities of Red Bluff, Anderson, and Redding, so regular season home and away games are played in these communities. D3 teams may travel to other communities for tournaments on a voluntary basis.

By contrast D4 teams for U-11 and older age groups have also formed in Corning, Weaverville, Mount Shasta, Yreka, and Susanville.

This means that D4 teams may travel to these communities for regular season games in addition to Red Bluff, Anderson, and, Redding.

Does it cost more to play on a D3 team?

Registration fees for D3 is the same as the fees for D4. In addition there could be cost for uniforms, tournament entries, travel, etc. Check with your D3 head coach for more information.

Who should tryout for a D3 team?

Any player registered with RBYSL for the upcoming Fall season is eligible to attend try-outs. Players that are interested in playing D3 soccer need to attend at least one of the tryout dates for their age group.
